Instructions
This assignment is based in part on the Pizza Analytics activity which will run during the course.
1) Apply one or more analytical techniques to the problem.
2) For each section, you should then produce a report which contains:
i. details of any assumptions you made about the problem;
ii. details of your data collection (if relevant) and analysis;
iii. an interpretation of the results of your analysis in a form that would be understood by senior managers;
iv. an assessment of the strengths and limitations of the analysis, and
v. recommendations to the organisation based on your results (where appropriate).
Fast forward a couple of years into the future and your university campus pizza business is doing very well indeed. So well that you have decided to partner with a few individuals with the aim of expanding into additional campuses. You and your partners are considering a number of sites to establish the first additional outlet or outlets. Currently, the campuses under consideration are the main campuses of the universities of Bristol, Birmingham, Exeter, Manchester and Cardiff. The choice of location will be based on attributes such as potential demand, , proximity to original outlet, set-up costs , running costs and considerations about the competition (e.g. from existing on-campus outlets and city outlets if the university is located in or very near a city centre).
You are considering using a structured method to help with their decision but your partners have no knowledge of such methods. You have decided to produce a report demonstrating how such a method could be applied to the outlet location decision to assess any strengths and limitations that would be associated with the method in this particular context. To achieve this you will need to create your own illustrative set of data and also explain how this might be elicited in practice. It is important you think carefully and explain thoroughly the choice of data. It is also important to include a sensitivity analysis on three of the input parameters you have chosen to consider as part of the problem.
