Assessment 2: Exegetical Paper (50% – 2500 words)
Topic: Do you agree with the exegetical basis (from Luke-Acts) for the Pentecostal distinctive of subsequent baptism with/in the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking in other tongues?
Helpful Hint: In your answer, make reference to the exegetical debates surrounding Lukes writings (i.e. Luke-Acts) and critically defend or support the Pentecostal distinctive from the Acts narrative. Be sure to 1) summarise the Pentecostal position 2) reference the Pentecostal exegetical method 3) critically engage with scholars who argue against the Pentecostal position and 4) determine, in your opinion, if you agree with the Pentecostal position. Important sources to reference include James Dunn, Max Turner, Robert Menzies (Pentecostal) and Roger Stronstad (Pentecostal), but be sure to expand your research beyond these writers.
